OUR STORY

Creating safe, trauma-informed spaces that support healing, stability, and long-term independence.

Why We Exist

Founded by Shantel Dixon, LMSW, Anthony’s Safe Haven was born from personal loss, generational trauma, and the lived reality of what happens when people, especially youth and families, don’t get the support they need to survive and heal.

This organization is named in memory of a 17-year-old boy who didn’t receive the help he needed in time. It also reflects the journey of a little girl who grew up without safety, stability, or protection—and decided to create what she didn’t have.

Anthony’s Safe Haven is more than a safe place for children.
It’s a trauma-informed movement focused on restoring families, rebuilding trust, and reconnecting people to the version of themselves that trauma tried to bury.

Our mission is rooted in the belief that healing is not linear, and it doesn’t belong to one group. Healing is for every child, every parent, every person who’s ever been labeled too difficult, too broken, or too far gone.

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in community.

Every day, individuals and families across Oklahoma are navigating the long-term effects of complex trauma—often without access to stable housing, supportive care, or trauma-informed services. At Anthony’s Safe Haven, we are building a compassionate, trauma-informed continuum of care that supports healing, stability, and long-term growth.

Through supportive housing initiatives, independent living support, mental-health services, and community-based programs, we work to meet people where they are—providing safety, dignity, and pathways toward independence.

Your donation, no matter the size, helps us:

  • Develop trauma-informed housing and supportive living environments

  • Expand independent living and stabilization support

  • Train staff in trauma-responsive, culturally informed care

  • Increase access to mental-health services and care coordination

  • Build sustainable programs that respond to evolving community needs

This work is complex. It’s human. And it’s essential.
Your generosity makes it possible to turn instability into safety—and trauma into healing.
